*Plants and soil

Owing to the identical geographical formation and climate among the archipelagos, the soil formed from basalt rocks is very simple, called the "Penghu origin" soil. With such color tone as red, red brown and yellow brown, this soil is very different from that found in Taiwan. Only the wild daisy can be counted as its natural plant. It is the most characteristic plant in Penghu. It can grow on any soil, however dry and barren. Thus, it can be found in any beach, suburb and countryside in Penghu in summer. Other wild flowers such as the bushes of ½¼ãÛµâand ®V¤kµâ, the single flowers of ¥Õ¤ô¤ì¡A¯ó®ü®ä and the pedals of ½¯¯ð¡A¤g¤B®Û all add more colors to the monotonous land.
